Into the Winters Night
Download “Into the Winter’s Night” from the Dirty 9s and Niamh Doyle.
“This song was written by the dying embers of a fire at Christmas, after too much wine, thinking about moments lost and absent friends, with thoughts always falling back to that one person who inspires you above all else”.

Charity Gig for Temple Street Hospital
Hi,
The Dirty 9s are headlining a gig downstairs in Whelans on Thursday, August 12th. Its €6 in and the money goes towards Temple Street Hospital.
Here’s a little bit about the good cause the money goes towards…
2Wheels ‘Tour de Picnic’ for Temple Street Children’s Hospital
Kieron Sexton, David Stanley and Ciarán O’Shea Brady will be taking part in this event which will see them ride to Electric Picnic in order to raise funds for Temple St. Children’s Hospital. It’s a 90km cycle and when the lads aren’t organising the charity gig they’re out logging in the miles so they can do everyone who shows them support proud. The cycle should last 5 hours, if all goes to plan on the day. They need €1,500 between them to take part in this unique event and want to hold the gig in order to raise above and beyond this target.
All proceeds from the gig will go directly to Temple Street’s Neurosurgery Appeal, to assist children with serious spine and brain injuries and/or diseases. Since 2009 Temple St. is the sole Irish hospital responsible for all Neurosurgery on neo-natal babies and children up to the age of six. Further information is available on www.templestreet.ie.
So come along!!

This is what the Independent thinks of it…
Dublin band The Dirty 9s song “El Diego,” is, appropriately, unhinged, OTT and rather magnificent.
The Guardian newspaper said this about the “Ballad of El Diego”…
the Dirty 9s ludicrously catchy, horn-soaked Argentine anthem Ballad of El Diego.

The Dirty 9s

The Dirty 9s formed in 2008 and haven’t wasted anytime in their mission to take their music to as many people as possible. Named after the less than flattering nickname given to their local bus service -the 39 the Dublin five piece first came to the public’s attention when they won the €10,000 grand prize on Irish TV Show Deis Roc. The show which aired on TG4 was a music competition for unsigned bands in which you had to write and perform your own music in Irish. Judges on the programme included Jim Lockhart from the legendary Horslips. The band put their winnings from the show to good use and enlisted Manic Street Preachers & Super Furry Animals Producer Greg Haver to record their debut album with. The album is called ‘Stop Screaming, Start Dreaming’ and will be released in 2010.
In the short time they’ve been together the band have also been selected for the 2009 IMRO Showcase Tour, performed on BBC Scotland Music Show Rapal, had their debut single ‘Lucy Opus’ picked as the download of the day on Today FM by Tony Fenton and they’ve had a track of theirs ‘Corridors’ chosen for the Hotpress/Oxfam compilation CD. They finished 2009 by signing a licensing deal with US based company Uncommontrax who provide music for Film & TV shows such as Entourage & Twilight
Since forming the band have clocked up gigs in top venues throughout the country including among others Whelans, Auntie Annies, The Academy, Cyprus Avenue, Spirit Store, The Stables, Electric Avenue & The Granary. They’ve also supported Republic of Loose, Delorentos, The Coronas, CODES, Director & The Stunning.
The Dirty 9s album tour will begin in late January and culminate with the bands album launch at Dublin’s Crawdaddy on Saturday April 3rd
