“Plenty of energy and some nice hooks – the first two years of The Dirty 9s have been well spent.
Working with producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals) the Dublin quintet have made sure that their debut album is slick, short and a good ad for the live show.”

I heart AU. Check it out

Self-released debut single ‘Lucy Opus’ is definitely one of the strongest tracks here – more like this could give the band the commercial success they may be hoping for but it’s the more intriguing ‘Weeknight Lovers’ and the angst-driven ‘Car Crash’ that really worm their way into your brain.

“I’d like to suggest a song by a young Irish band called The Dirty 9s. I first saw them when they supported Delorentos here in Cyprus Avenue and they were fabulous. I really think you’ll like them and their single out now is called Lucy Opus.”

Some Blogs worth checking out:

Peter N from 2 U I bestow talking about Stop Screaming Start Dreaming

“The album is a great start for a young band that should have a massive career. The initial feeling I got from the first listen was that The Dirty 9s have it in them to become a super cool indie rock band like say Placebo or The National. However on this effort they lean towards the power pop of successful Irish bands the Coronas and The Blizzards.”

Peter N from 2 U I bestow listing “Trouble” from the Stop Screaming Start Dreaming Album as one of the best songs he’s heard this year.

8. The Dirty 9s – Trouble

The Dirty 9′s are one of the best bands I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live this year.

Girl from the Hills

“Have to say I was impressed with the band. A tight knit five piece who together create a big sound with echoes of an early U2 with an 80’s twist. They did a cover of an 80s band but they really are at their best doing their own thing. I expect to hear a lot more from this band judging from this impressive debut and the already burgeoning interest in them.”

Culch.ie

“I first saw The Dirty 9s a few weeks ago in Greystones Theatre . The band was playing support so I hadn’t planned on paying much attention. However, I didn’t have a choice. As soon as I heard the voice of lead singer, I was gripped.”

I have Grave news by Johnnie Craig

“This twisterrific opus is the new single from marvellous young Dublin band The Dirty 9s, from whom we expect even greater things in 2010.”

The Examiner

“The Dirty 9′s are yet another among a whole new fresh generation of world class bands to join the cream of Irelands independants and wow the musical world with their sheer talent.”

Steve Cummins

“There’s also shades of Delorentos and Snow Patrol in there and, if anything, it’s  an indication that The Dirty 9s might well be an act to keep tabs on in 2010.”

State.ie

“Toned-down keyboards, haunting vocals and a pumped up chorus are the order of the day on Dirty 9s debut single ‘Lucy Opus’.”

Mp3hugger

“Whelans, prepare for the inevitable invasion of Dirty 9s t-shirt wearing kids with the moshpit on their minds. November swimmers choosing to do it freestyle.”
